The German manager is eager to keep Pavard in his Bayern squad.
Benjamin Pavard could stay at Bayern Munich despite his request to leave, according to Thomas Tuchel.
Pavard has been linked with a move away from Bayern Munich since the beginning of the summer transfer window. Manchester United have seemingly called off a move for the Frenchman after Harry Maguire’s move to West Ham collapsed.
However, Inter managed to reach an agreement with both Bayern and Pavard over a move earlier this month. Bayern reportedly avoided giving the final green light to look for a replacement.
It seems the Bavarians are open to keeping Pavard despite his intention to leave Allianz Arena.
Speaking in a press conference on Friday, Tuchel said: “Benji has asked for a move, but we really appreciate him. He played over 80% of minutes last season.
“It’s one party wanting to change clubs, but of course there’s also the timing and there has to be an offer. There must be a replacement that fits from a footballing and personal point of view.
“The request (to leave) came to me very late, which surprised me a bit. We have to think of the interests of our club. As of now I continue to work with him.”
Pavard has stayed out of Bayern’s training due to sickness in recent days. Let’s see if Tuchel would add him to the matchday squad against Augsburg on Sunday.
