Bayern are not willing to lose another key forward this summer.
Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamdzic has rubbished reports linking Leroy Sane with a move to Manchester United.
Last week, reports emerged of Man Utd’s interest in signing the former Manchester City star. A few English sources went as far as to claim the Red Devils have already inquired about the player.
However, Salihamidzic has ruled out the 26-year-old’s departure.
“There’s nothing to it,” the Bayern director responded when asked about Sane’s potential exit.
“Leroy is an important player for us, so there’s nothing to tell.”
Sane has struggled for consistency since moving to Bayern in July 2020.
The former Man City star has won two Bundesliga titles at the club. However, his performances in important games have drawn criticism from Bayern fans.
Following the departure of Robert Lewandowski, Bayern went on to add Sadio Mane to their squad earlier this summer. The Senegal international’s arrival has increased the competition in Bayern’s forward line, with the likes of Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, and Kingsley Coman all being capable of playing on the wings.
Julian Nagelsmann dropped Sane from his starting lineup for Bayern’s 6-1 thrashing of Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
However, the German star went on to provide a brilliant assist for Musiala after entering the pitch in the second half.
Bayern will face Wolfsburg in their next Bundesliga game on Sunday.
