Bayern have confirmed the youngster has moved to self-isolation after returning a positive test on Wednesday.

Following Leon Goretzka’s long-term injury in December, Jamal Musiala has stepped up to become a regular starter at Bayern Munich. The 18-year-old has featured in 27 of the Bavarians’ 30 games this season, scoring three goals and providing four assists.

However, a new setback will make Julian Nagelsmann’s midfield options more limited. Bayern have confirmed Musiala is self-isolating ahead of their Bundesliga game against Bochum.

In addition to the teenage midfielder, Sven Ulreich, Benjamin Pavard, and Kingsley Coman have reportedly missed Bayern’s training on Wednesday. The report has raised concern over a potential Covid outbreak at the club.

The absence of Ulreich, in particular, is worrying for Bayern. The goalkeeper is next in line to cover for Manuel Neuer’s absence due to a knee injury.

In midfield, Nagelsmann will most likely use Joshua Kimmich alongside Corentin Tolliso or Marcel Sabitzer. The manager used Kimmich as a right-back in his side’s win over Leipzig earlier this week. However, the injury of Musiala might result in Benjamin Pavard reclaiming his spot in the lineup.

Musiala will miss Bayern’s next two games. The Bavarians will face Bochum in Bundesliga on Saturday before facing RB Leipzig in the Champions League four days later.
