The Frenchman is spending the final nine months of his contract at Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich reportedly want to keep Benjamin Pavard in their squad for the 2023-24 season.
Pavard has been heavily linked with a move away from Bayern this summer. Manchester United were leading the race to sign him before Harry Maguire’s move to West Ham collapsed.
In recent weeks, Inter came close to signing Pavard, making a €25m bid for the Frenchman with additional bonuses. However, it now seems that Pavard will spend the current campaign at Bayern.
According to Kicker, the Bavarians feel they lack enough squad depth to accept Pavard’s departure. The club are reportedly willing to take the risk of losing the 27-year-old for free next summer.
Bayern have reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen over a season-long loan deal for Josip Stanisic. The Croatian star’s exit leaves Bayern with Pavard and Bouna Sarr as their only backups for Noussair Mazraoui on the right flank.
Tuchel preferred to start the Morocco international at the right-hand side of his Bayern backline in their match against Werder Bremen. However, Pavard will most likely provide Mazraoui with serious competition for the lineup spot if he ends up staying at the club.
Next weekend, Bayern will return to action with a Bundesliga game against Augsburg.
