The Bavarians continued their brilliant run of results with another home victory.

Joao Cancelo played a “top game” for Bayern Munich against Augsburg, according to Joshua Kimmich.

Nagelsmann awarded Cancelo with a start after his brilliant impact against Paris Saint-Germian in the Champions League.

A second-minute goal from Mergim Berisha saw the visitors go ahead at Allianz Arena. But Cancelo got Bayern back in the game with an equalizer only 13 minutes later.

A fantastic attacking display from Bayern helped them defeat their Bavarian rivals 5-3. Speaking after the game, Kimmich highlighted the high motivation within Bayern’s squad.

“Today it was extremely important to bring in some fresh blood,” Kimmich told Sky.

“The players who didn’t play much lately won the game for us today. Especially the guys who started, they really did a great job. I could list every single one.

“João in particular played a top game. Serge and Leroy both had a great game, as did Sadio. Benji as well. It was extremely good for us to have guys who are fired up, who maybe didn’t play much in the past few weeks and who had to listen to a lot of things in the media.

“Sometimes it (the criticism) was unjustified. Today they showed that they are very, very important to us. They always have been.”
