The Bayern midfielder believes his side showed their worst performance of the season against the 11th-place side.

Bochum defeated Bayern Munich 4-2 in their Bundesliga game on Saturday. The hosts conceded an early goal from Robert Lewandowski but proceeded to stun the league giants by scoring four goals in the first half.

The 11th-placed team even scored their fifth goal at the beginning of the second half. However, the referee disallowed the goal for offside. Robert Lewandowski closed the gap by completing his brace in the 75th minute, but it was too late for the Bavarians to get back into the game.

In a post-match interview, Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich admitted his side’s poor performance.

“That was our worst performance of the season throughout the game,” he told Sky (via SportsMax).

“We missed all the virtues. If something like this happens once in the season, then I say that it can happen.

“But this is not the first time this has happened to us this season.

“We have to be careful. We have to ask ourselves whether this is the mentality that FC Bayern embodies.”

Bayern used Sven Ulreich as their goalkeeper as Manuel Neuer is out with injury. The goalkeeper’s performance was alarming ahead of the Bavarians’ upcoming Champions League game against Salzburg.

Following the Champions League clash, Bayern will return to Bundesliga to face Greuther Fürth next Sunday.
