The Bavarians are keen to add another Leipzig star to their ranks this summer.

Bayern Munich have reportedly submitted a formal bid for RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer.

The Austrian star has long been on Bayern’s radar, with the Bundesliga champions finally making a move for the 25-year-old.

According to Foot Mercato, Bayern have made a £21m move for Laimer. However, the French publication expects Leipzig to reject their Bundesliga rivals’ offer due to Laimer’s crucial role in their lineup.

The DFB Pokal champions saw Dayot Upamecano and Marcel Sabitzer leave their ranks to join Bayern last season. They followed the footsteps of their manager Julian Nagelsmann, who replaced Hansi Flick at Allianz Arena.

Nagelsmann is reportedly a big fan of Laimer, who mainly plays as a central midfielder at Leipzig. According to German outlet Sport1, the Austria international himself is keen to join Bayern and has rejected several contract offers from Leipzig.

Bayern are also aware that Leipzig are under pressure to sell Laimer this summer. The midfielder’s contract will expire next summer, with Leipzig reportedly being desperate to sell him to a club abroad.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal have shown interest in signing Laimer before. However, Bayern are leading the transfer race for the midfielder since he is eager to work under Nagelsmann again.
