The Bavarians have refused to sell Robert Lewandowski to the Catalans despite the player’s interest in leaving the club.

Bayern Munich are reportedly sceptical about Barcelona’s ability to pay their debts in the coming seasons.

The Catalans hope to secure Robert Lewandowski‘s signing ahead of the new season.

The Polish striker has revealed his desire to leave Allianz Arena and has already met Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez.

Lewandowski has a year left on his Bayern contract, with Bavarians insisting they will keep him until the next summer.

Barca have reportedly submitted three offers for the 33-year-old, but they are yet to reach an agreement with the Bundesliga champions.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the stumbling block in the negotiations has been Bayern’s demand of receiving the transfer fee upfront.

Barcelona were reportedly planning to sign Lewandowski on a €40m deal plus add-ons. However, the Bavarians refuse to include any variables into their deal for the star striker.

The Spanish outlet claims Bayern are not confident that Barcelona will exist in a couple of years to pay their debts.

Earlier this month, Bayern’s board member Uli Hoeness hit out at Barcelona for making big offers while having ‘bankruptcy at their door’.

Let’s see if the Catalans will try to secure Lewandowski’s services with an improved offer in the coming weeks.
