The Bavarians might have to play without one of their best defenders when Bundesliga re-starts in April.
Bayern Munich have seen two of their injured players, Leon Goretzka and Alphonso Davies, making significant progress in their recovery process in recent weeks.
However, the news of a new injury setback overshadowed the good news around the Bayern Munich pair.
The German giants confirmed their defender Nicolas Sule had suffered a hamstring injury on Thursday.
“Niklas Sule tore a muscle in his right rear thigh during training on Wednesday,” read an official club statement.
“The 26-year-old FC Bayern centre-back is now facing a spell on the sidelines.”
Bayern have not provided a timeline for Sule’s recovery. However, reports from German outlets claim he will be out for 3-4 weeks.
The new injury might prevent Sule from participating in the first leg of Bayern’s quarter-final tie in the Champions League. The club hope to have reinforcement in their backline when Davies returns.
However, the Canada international might also miss the upcoming Champions League clash as he is yet to join the team training in Munich.
Bayern Munich will face Union Berlin in their last game before the international break on Saturday. Julian Nagelsmann’s side will go into the game as clear favourites. However, Sule’s absence might give Union a chance to expose Bayern’s defensive weaknesses at Allianz Arena.
