The Bavarians have sold one of their most promising defenders to free up space in their backline.

Sevilla have confirmed the signing of Tanguy Nianzou from Bayern Munich.

The French defender joined Bayern on a free deal from Paris Saint-Germain’s academy in July 2020.

Despite his incredible potential, Bayern couldn’t offer Nianzou enough game time in their packed defensive line. In his two seasons at Allianz Arena, the 20-year-old made only 28 appearances for the Bundesliga champions.

Bayern went on to add Matthijs de Ligt to their backline earlier this summer while already having the likes of Dayot Upamecano, Benjamin Pavard, and Lucas Hernandez in their squad.

Sevilla have signed Nianzou as part of their plans to cover for Jules Kounde’s departure. Another French centre-back, Kounde left Sevilla to join Barcelona last month.

Sevilla themselves are spending a busy transfer window. In addition to Nianzou, the La Liga heavyweights have added Marcao, Isco and Alex Telles to their ranks this summer.

Having signed a five-year deal at Sevilla, Nianzou will look forward to playing in the third league of his career.

However, Bayern have secured a chance to possibly re-sign the player by putting a buy-back option in his contract.
The French defender can make his La Liga debut when Sevilla take on Real Valladolid this weekend.
