The reigning Bundesliga champions have confirmed another injury setback going into the international break.
Bayern Munich have been dealt a blow with the news that defender Dayot Upamecano is set for a spell on the sidelines due to a left hamstring injury.
The 24-year-old France international faces several weeks out of action. He sustained the injury during the 3-0 win over Freiburg last Sunday.
In a statement on Wednesday, Bayern offered no definitive return date for Upamecano.
Matthijs de Ligt, though, is on the mend. The defender is in his rehabilitation, recovering from a knee injury. He reported for training on Tuesday, indicating positive progress.
Additionally, Serge Gnabry, recovering from a fractured arm, has commenced running in training. The winger is still wearing a cast on his arm at this time. He has missed almost two weeks of football since suffering his injury in the DFB-Pokal match against Preußen Münster on September 29.
Bayern’s next Bundesliga clash is scheduled away to Mainz on October 21. They rank third in the standings, with 17 points from seven games, and two points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
