The Bundesliga champions have welcomed Noussair Mazraoui as their first summer signing.

Moroccan right-back Noussair Mazraoui will join Bayern Munich on a free transfer from Ajax once his contract expires in June.

The 24-year-old has signed a four-season contract until 2026 to become Bayern’s first signing of the summer transfer window. He will compete with Benjamin Pavard for the right-back spot.

‘I can win the biggest titles here’

La Liga side Barcelona also had an interest in Mazraoui, but the appeal of joining Germany’s most successful club was too good to turn down for the defender.

“Straight from the first discussions with FC Bayern, I had a good feeling and I’m excited about joining one of the biggest clubs in Europe,” he told the club’s website.

“FC Bayern have just become German champions for the 10th year in a row and will be among the contenders to win the Champions League again next season. I’ve chosen this club because I can win the biggest titles here.”

Mazraoui is a product of the famed Ajax academy and made 136 first-team appearances. He won two Eredivisie and KNVB Cup titles in Amsterdam and was part of the side that reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2018/19.

Bayern, meanwhile, are also interested in Mazraoui’s former Ajax teammate Ryan Gravenberch. The 20-year-old midfielder is out of contract in June 2023.
