The Bayern Munich defender has already made it clear he will leave the club at the end of the season.
Since joining Bayern Munich from Hoffenheim in 2017, Niklas Sule has developed himself into a regular starter at Allianz Arena. The defender replaced Jerome Boateng in Bayern’s lineup after the veteran defender left the club in July 2021.
However, six months before the expiration of his Bayern contract, Sule has announced he wants to leave the club next summer. The player has suitors from Spain and England, with his agent revealing he has already decided on his next club.
“The new club has already been decided,” Sule’s agent Volker Struth said on Sunday (via 90min).
“Niklas has made a decision and I would be surprised if he changed his mind.”
He added: “Niklas spent Christmas with his family, called me between at the time and said: ‘I don’t want that anymore. I don’t want this appointment to take place.
“It has nothing to do with money at all. I spoke to Hasan Salihamidžić about a possible renewal. That was in late autumn last year – six or seven months before the end of his contract. By then Süle had already decided & told me he wanted to do something different.”
According to English sources, Chelsea are eyeing a move for the German international. The Blues see Sule as a reliable option as they are struggling to extend the contracts of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Barcelona have also shown interest in signing the centre-back. However, Sule’s “over €10m/year” salary demand will make it hard for the Catalans to sign him due to their already bloated wage bill.
