Allianz Arena was the place where PSG visited Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals. We got player ratings.
We all expected a great quarter final match between Bayern Munich and PSG, but we had no idea we were about to experience one of the best games of the season. European football at its finest between last season’s Champions League finalists. Despite having Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry’s absences, Hansi Flick still managed to offer a demolishing squad vs PSG.
But the French giants are determined to make it to the final this season with Neymar and Mbappe. It took the two stars three minutes to link up and score the opening goal at Allianz Arena, Kylian responded against a high-profile opponent. But Neymar also had his fair share of credit for today’s performance with another brilliant assist to Marquinhos before the half-hour mark. It was already 0-2 but Bayern Munich still had to respond.
Keylor saves and Mbappe decides.
Before the break, Choupo-Moting scored a header that helped Bayern pull one back but reminded us how important Robert Lewandowski would’ve been tonight. After the break, Bayern started dominating the game but they needed that killer inside the box. Keylor Navas became the hero with several shots on target but directed straight at him.
Thomas Muller scored another header with thirty minutes left on the clock and gave this match another dimension. However, Kylian Mbappe proved he is one of the most important players of the season with his brace against another top contender. He did this already against Barcelona and he does it again vs Bayern Munich. Performances like this one are Ballon d’Or worthy for any player.
