The Polish striker has decided to leave Allianz Arena this summer.

Thomas Muller has opened up on his feelings over Robert Lewandowski’s possible move away from Bayern Munich.

Despite having one year on his current Bayern contract, Lewandowski has expressed his desire to leave Allianz Arena this summer.

Speaking about his future at the club, Lewandowski said: “What is certain at the moment is that my story at Bayern is over. I don’t see any chance of continuing my career at this club.”

However, Muller hopes he will continue playing alongside the Ballon d’Or runner-up.

“I would like my long-term attacking partner to stay,” the German international told Kicker.

“It’s a break and we’ve experienced a lot during these times.

“I just remember Franck Ribery’s desire to move to Real Madrid.”

Ribery famously wanted a move to Real Madrid in 2009 but eventually stayed at Bayern and became a club legend.

Muller added: “One thing is certain: every player, who is still under contract in Munich on September 1, will also want to play well, because no player enjoys playing badly.”

Lewandowski has won the Champions League, eight Bundesliga titles, three DFB Pokals, and two FIFA Best Men’s Player awards during his time at Bayern.

Barcelona have publicly expressed their interest in signing the Polish star. However, their well-documented financial problems might prevent them from reaching an agreement with Bayern.
