Bayern Munich suffered from the worst-ever DFB-Pokal defeat in 43 years as they lost to Borussia Monchengladbach last night.

This could be the worst-ever night for the Bayern Munich supporters as they lost 5-0 at the hands of Borussia Monchengladbach in DFB-Pokal on Wednesday night.

Just under the first three minutes, Gladbach were leading by one goal, and within the next 20 minutes, they were 3-0 up. It was the very first time that the German champions conceded three goals that early in a cup game.

Ramy Bensebaini and Breel Embolo both scored a brace for the hosts, with Kouadio Kone also netting his first goal against Bayern.

After the match, Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic told ARD: “I’m absolutely shocked. We just weren’t in that match. In every situation, they were tougher than us.

“A collective blackout. That was inexplicable. We know how difficult it is always in Gladbach, we discussed that beforehand. It’s all difficult to explain, I have to be honest.”

Club coach, Julian Nagelsmann is currently going through Covid-19 recovery and could not be present on the sidelines. However, Salihamidzic knows that the result had nothing to do with the manager’s absence.

“Of course we want the coach to be there. But the defeat has little to do with Dino, rather that we weren’t there for the duels at all.

“Everything that could go wrong really went wrong. It has little to do with the coach today.”
