The Bavarians hope to improve their squad depth by adding a versatile defender to their ranks.
Former Ajax star Daley Blind has completed a move to Bayern Munich as a free agent.
Ajax released Blind earlier this season, with the defender being close to joining the Royal Antwerp. However, an approach from Bayern has convinced the 32-year-old to continue his career in Germany.
Having signed a six-year contract at the club, Blind said: “I can hardly wait to play here. We’ve got the most important part of the season coming up, where it’s about titles – and a club like Bayern can win every trophy.
“The hunger for titles here at the club was key in my decision. I hope I can bring my experience to help the team. I’ll give everything for Bayern Munich.”
According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Blind will earn around €2m at Bayern.
In addition to playing at the centre-back position, Blind’s ability to play on the left-hand side will enable Alphonso Davies to rest in the absence of Lucas Hernandez.
“We’re delighted that Daley is joining our team,” sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic added.
“Daley is a versatile defender, capable of playing on the left or in the centre. He has great international experience and leadership qualities. I’m sure he’ll help us.”
