The Bavarians are said to be among those interested in the Norwegian hitman, who is probably the most in-demand player at present.
Bayern Munich executive director Oliver Kahn insists signing Erling Haaland is “unimaginable” for the club given the player’s sizable price tag.
Haaland has developed into one of the world’s best strikers since joining Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January 2019.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool – almost every top European club – are linked with the 20-year-old, who has a remarkable tally of 37 goals and 11 assists in 38 games played this season.
Bayern are also reportedly in the hunt for Haaland. It has been reported that the German champions want to pair him with Robert Lewandowski up-front and eventually become the No.9’s successor.
The Norway international is understood to have a €75 million release clause in his contract. However, the clause will not come into play until 2022, and those looking to sign the player earlier would have to shed well upwards of €100 million.
“Sorry, whoever spoke about that didn’t understand the situation,” Kahn, who is set to succeed Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as Bayern CEO, told Bild.
“A package that costs – as we heard – over €100m is unimaginable for FC Bayern at the moment.”
