Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen have announced the signing of Leicester midfielder Demarai Gray until June 2022.

Bayer Leverkusen have completed a swoop for Englishman Demarai Gray.

The midfielder fell out of favor under manager Brendan Rodgers and was set to leave the Foxes in the summer. He was already in the final year of his contract.

Crystal Palace and Marseille were also believed to be interested in Gray but it is Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen who have won the race.

Bayer Leverkusen announced the capture of the midfielder via a post on their social channel.

The German side believe the 24-year-old could make a similar impact in Bundesliga as some other young English players. The likes of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham have impressed for Borussia Dortmund since their moves to the German top flight.

Since he joined Leicester City in 2016, Gray scored 13 goals in 169 appearances. He was also part of the Foxes squad that won the Premier League in 2016 under Claudio Ranieri.

Speaking on the transfer, Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes had good words to say about the Englishman.

“Demarai Gray is a real bag of tricks, he’s a quick and direct winger who adds another string to our bow in attack,” he said as per the Bundesliga website.

“He knows how to exploit his pace in one-on-one situations and has an eye for his teammates. Thanks to his Premier League experience, he can hit the ground running with us.”
