Barcelona might have Memphis Depay back in the squad for their next La Liga game.

Following an underwhelming draw against Napoli in the Europa League, Barcelona will return to La Liga action on Sunday. The Blaugrana will face Valencia at Mestalla as they hope to return to La Liga’s top four.

In a pre-match press conference, Xavi Hernandez provided an update on Memphis Depay’s recovery process.

“We are waiting for him,” the manager said of Depay, who is out with a hamstring issue.

“He is almost ready, this week is the definitive one. He is a player who scores goals, [can play] a last pass. He will help us a lot.”

Xavi has preferred to keep Ousmane Dembele out of his lineup following the Frenchman’s well-documented contract standoff with the club. However, the Spanish manager confirms Dembele is an option for the starting XI against Valencia.

“He could be a starter, or on Thursday [in the second leg against Napoli],” the Barca boss added. “When he has played, he has been involved. He is one more.”

Another change in the lineup could come after Ferran Torres’ disappointing display against Napoli. But Xavi says he is optimistic the young forward will improve his form.

“We talked,” the Spaniard added. “There is absolute confidence in him. He is great and will be even greater.

“It is not blind confidence in him. He will make a difference. I have no doubts.”

Following the match against Valencia, Barcelona will face Napoli in the second leg of their Europa League playoff on Thursday.
