The Spanish forward has struggled to find his place in Xavi’s lineup.

Xavi Hernandez has insisted he has “blind confidence” in Ansu Fati, dismissing rumours around his possible exit from Barcelona.

Fati has made only seven starts under Xavi this season, slipping past Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha in Barca’s pecking order.

The 20-year-old’s situation has attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs. According to sources in English media, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are the three clubs that are actively monitoring Fati.

However, Xavi insists the youngster needs to stay patient and embrace his role in Barca’s squad.

“We expect a lot from him, I have blind confidence in him,” Xavi said on Saturday. “I have it with everyone. We have been shaping the squad based on what I wanted.

“I have confidence with everyone and especially with Ansu. He is a player for the present and for the future. He has to have patience and give everything when he comes in, which he is doing.

“At this moment there is no one transferable. The market has finished, I don’t know what we are doing talking about sales, we are playing the season.

“We are talking about the sale of Ansu, who was not talked about all month in January. I don’t understand it and even less in the Barcelona environment. I have a lot of hope for him.”
