The Barcelona boss says he will have Ansu Fati back in his squad for the game against Real Madrid.

Ansu Fati spent most of the last year out of action. During the past 14 months, the Barcelona youngster has made only five La Liga appearances. However, Xavi Hernandez will have him back in his squad soon.

Ahead of his side’s match against Granada, Xavi gave an update on the 19-year-old.

He said (via Fotmob): “If it were the other way around, playing Madrid tomorrow and the Supercopa against Granada, I would do exactly the same,

“Ansu is fine, [but] I had some doubts that he would be able to play tomorrow’s game. For now I prefer to wait because the last experience he had was a relapse.”

He added: “We love Ansu 100 per cent, and knowing that he is about to return is spectacular news for us. He has worked very well, with a very strong ambition, capable of making a difference.

“He is a fundamental player, but we do not want to take risks because we would lose him for the rest of the season. I prefer to wait until he is at full capacity – it’s a question of physical condition.”

Fati suffered a hamstring injury in November following his previous knee problems. The teenager will provide Xavi with a much-needed squad boost ahead of his first El Clasico as a manager.

But before that, Barcelona will have to face Granada in their next La Liga game on Saturday. The Catalans sit fifth in the Spanish top flight, 15 points behind leaders Real Madrid.
