In the official opening of a club store in Madrid, Barcelona took a cheeky dig at their rivals’ expense.
Barcelona opened a new store in Madrid on Thursday and couldn’t resist the chance to poke fun at Real Madrid and legendary striker Raul Gonzalez’s expense.
The club unveiled a huge blue and red banner outside the new store on its grand opening day, with the caption: “Raul is a culer”. The shop itself is located less than 50 meters from Real Madrid’s own club store. It features all the official Barca merchandise you would expect.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Joan Laporta has played this stunt on Real Madrid. The Barcelona president famously put a banner of himself up during his election campaign, which read: “Looking forward to seeing you again.”
For those of you who don’t know, Raul Gonzalez is a former Spanish striker. He spent almost his entire career at Real Madrid and is the club’s third-highest goalscorer in history, with 323 goals in 741 games, behind Cristiano Ronaldo (450 goals) and Karim Benzema (329 goals).
The 2001 Ballon d’Or runner-up currently coaches Real Madrid’s Castilla team in the Spanish third-tier division.
