The Catalans have already outlined a plan to raise funds for their next big signing.
A transfer race for Erling Haaland will most likely steal the headlines next summer. The player has attracted interest from several elite clubs, with Barcelona being among his most serious suitors.
However, the Catalan side are dealing with financial issues that might prevent them from going all-in in the competition to sign the Norwegian.
Finalizing the move might require way more money than the player’s €75m release clause. In addition to these expenses, Barcelona will most likely need to make Haaland their top-earner.
According to Goal, Barcelona are planning to sell a 49% stake in their media production company Barca Studios. The sale would reportedly provide the club with €100m to pursue a deal for Haaland.
Selling Barca Studios, however, will not be easy for the Spanish giants. The club officials are struggling to recover the image rights of their players. Barcelona stars currently work with third parties to commercialize their image rights. This will fend off investors as they would not be able to use the players’ image rights in their content.
Earlier this month, Barcelona president Joan Laporta said his side are already working on their plans for the next summer.
“We’re working on the summer window. Everything is possible if it’s done well,” Laporta said.
“I am sure things will go well. Barcelona are still a reference. Every player considers the possibility of coming here.
“We still have our status in the transfer market. Everyone can get ready because Barca are back; the arrival of Ferran shows that.
We’re a reference. Barca’s resurgence is a reality and the football world has realized that.”
