The Catalans hope to have found their new star winger in Vitor Roque.

Barcelona are on the verge of completing a move for Vitor Roque ahead of the next season.

Since joining Athletico Paranaense from Cruzeiro last year, Roque has taken the Brazilian Serie A by storm. He has registered four goals and two assists in his ten league appearances so far this season.

Roque’s performances attracted interest from a host of European sides. But Barca seem to have closed a deal for the 18-year-old winger.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Barca have reached an agreement with Athletico Paranaense over a €35m deal plus €10m in add-ons.

Roque will reportedly sign a five-year contract at Camp Nou as he joins Xavi Hernandez’s team ahead of the next season.

The player has reportedly played a “crucial” role in his transfer to Barca. Three other elite clubs were in the race to sign Roque, but he chose to wait for Barca’s offer.

Financial difficulties will most likely prevent Barcelona from registering Roque as their new player right away. The club hopes to offload a few more of their players to meet La Liga‘s wage cap for the next campaign.

Roque will most likely join his new side ahead of their pre-season match against Juventus on July 22.
