On the same night they fell to Eintracht Frankfurt, Pedri suffered a serious injury and could now miss the rest of the season.

Barcelona have confirmed midfielder Pedri suffered a torn hamstring during their Europa League defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.

The 19-year-old Spaniard came off at half-time injured in the quarter-final second leg. Frenkie de Jong replaced him, as the club fell to a shocking 3-2 defeat at Camp Nou – losing the tie 4-3 on aggregate.

Now upon doing medical tests on Friday morning, Barcelona have confirmed Pedri’s injury.

“Tests on Friday morning have revealed that Pedri has ruptured the femoral biceps in his left hamstring,” read a statement.

“It means he will be unavailable for selection until he recovers from the injury.”

Of course, this isn’t Pedri’s first hamstring issue. The Spain international was out for a spell with a similar problem earlier this season. In fact, he had only returned to action in January.

Barcelona have given no timetable as to when Pedri may return to action but, with only eight La Liga games left, they could be without him for the rest of the campaign.
