Barcelona Femeni defeated Real Madrid Femenino with a 3-1 result in their league game on Sunday. The Barca side continued their incredible run of 19 consecutive victories, while the Blancos slipped to ninth place.
Lieke Martens opened the scoring for Barcelona in the eighth minute. The Catalans dominated the game after the opener, with Irene Paredes doubling their lead twenty minutes later.
Martens completed her brace in the 23rd minute to make it 3-0 for Barcelona before the break. Real Madrid tried to mount a comeback in the second half as they gained possession early on.
Following a searching cross from Lucia Rodriguez, Kosovare Asllani scored for Real Madrid eight minutes before the hour-mark. However, it was not enough for the Blancos to escape the defeat. Barcelona had several chances to increase their lead after the goal, but they were not clinical enough to convert their opportunities.
