Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has officially completed his move to Barcelona as a free agent with a remarkable release clause.

Barcelona have officially announced the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal on a free transfer.

Tuesday marked the day as the Gabonese terminated his contract with the Gunners by mutual agreement. In fact, the 32-year-old flew to the Catalan capital on the deadline day to communicate his terms with Barca.

If you were unaware, a possible loan deal was an option in the beginning. However, Barcelona were unable to pay the striker his hefty £340,000 per week salary.

Therefore, Arsenal also agreed to release him as a free agent and sign for the La Liga outfit on a permanent basis.

Barcelona made an official statement following Aubameyang’s initial training with his new teammates on Tuesday.

The club wrote: “FC Barcelona and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have reached an agreement for the player to join the club after the striker terminated his contract with Arsenal FC.”

“The player will sign a contract until 30 June 2025 with an option to agree departure on 30 June 2023. And his buy out clause will be set at 100 million euros.”

“Shortly the Club will provide details of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s presentation as a first-team player.”
