Barcelona are finazliing a winter move for the Manchester City forward.

It has been months since the first reports around Barcelona’s interest in signing Ferran Torres came out. The Catalans made Torres their main transfer target for the winter, and they are now close to striking a deal.

According to several sources, Barcelona have agreed to a €55m move for Torres.

Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano claims there is also €10m in add-ons for Manchester City. The Spaniard will reportedly sign a five-year contract at Barcelona as Xavi gets his first priority signing.

According to GOAL, Barcelona sporting director Matteo Alemany has led the negotiations with Manchester City. The deal will bring Torres back to Spain after his move to Man City from Valencia in August 2020.

Torres has not been able to secure his place in Pep Guardiola’s lineup since arriving at the Etihad Stadium. The Spain international competed with the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling, and Bernardo Silva for a starting place. However, Guardiola mostly used him as a backup for his well-established starters.

Barcelona are dealing with severe financial issues while also trying to appease La Liga’s financial fair play rules. The arrival of Torres will most likely result in the departure of one or more Barcelona players this winter.

Players such as Sergino Dest, Frenkie de Jong, and even Marc Andre ter Stegen are linked with moves away from Barcelona. However, the club are yet to enter concrete talks for their potential departures.
