After a long meeting with the manager, FC Barcelona reached a decision about Ronald Koeman’s future at the club.

We all wanted to know what FC Barcelona would decide about Ronald Koeman this week and today was the day for him. During the afternoon hours of the day, we started to see movement at Camp Nou Stadium. There was an image of Ronald Koeman arriving at the club to meet with president Joan Laporta and his board. Alongside the chairman can vice president Yuste, and Mateu Alemany. All three of them have the final say on whether Koeman will continue coaching the football club or not.

After all of them got inside a room for a meeting, it didn’t last more than 40 minutes before they all came out. We finally have a report that the entire world was hoping to get. According to Sport, Joan Laporta has decided to keep Ronald Koeman for now. In hindsight, there isn’t really a chance for the club to sign any other manager without having to pay Koeman for his dismissal. FC Barcelona’s hands are completely tied due to the club’s current financial situation.

Why else does Koeman stay?

The club understands that bringing two Dutch players such as Wijnaldum and Depay is a major boost for Koeman. After sharing some time with them in the national team, they both became key players for the manager. Laporta believes they can bring out the best aspects of their game if they are coached by the proper manager. However, this decision doesn’t mean that the club won’t sack him as soon as things start to go sideways.

Koeman knows that his days will be numbered if he doesn’t start delivering results as soon as the season starts. So for now, FC Barcelona will keep the same manager they had last season. This means that the players will at least have a level of stability that a club in crisis urgently needs. It will be up to Koeman to determine if he deserves this second chance or not. But for now, all the planning for next season will remain his top priority.
