After Pep Guardiola’s final verdict about coaching Barcelona again, one of the club’s candidates for president wanted to clarify what he meant.

Perhaps Pep Guardiola’s recent reaction to his possible return to FC Barcelona as a coach was not well-received by the supporters. He’s without question, the most successful manager in the club’s history. With him at the helm, the world experienced arguably the most dominant football club in history.

Only this year’s Bayern Munich has a chance to match what Guardiola’s Blaugranas did during 2009. We completely understand if the supporters want to have their former manager back at the club. It’s also easy to get why they possibly didn’t react well to the Catalan manager’s recent statement.

However, they need to understand that Pep as a coach has an expiration date. He can’t keep feeling that same level of pressure and stress until the day he dies, he needs to have some inner peace. Although he is not going to coach for the rest of his life, it’s impossible to imagine him not working in football.

Victor Font clarifies Pep’s statement.

Guardiola is always very clear about what he says in public. He specifically stated that his time as a Barcelona manager was in the past. But this doesn’t mean he won’t return to the club he adores in the future. The only difference is that he will be the one making the biggest calls.

Guardiola loves the idea of getting to pick the club’s manager, scouting young players for La Masia, and making important transfer decisions for the club. When he returns to FC Barcelona, it will be in a different form.

Barcelona’s presidential candidate, Victor Font said it better than anybody: “Guardiola has explained this many, many times,” he wrote on Twitter.

“His role at the Club of His Heart must be another. He loves Barça and having his talent is a priority. I have no doubt that sooner rather than later we will make it possible. Time to respect his will. But he will come back to his beloved club to help in other roles/capacities.”
