The Barcelona midfielder has emerged as one of Manchester United’s top-priority targets this summer.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed the club have ‘no intention’ of selling Manchester United-linked midfielder, Frenkie de Jong.

The Red Devils have been in talks with Barcelona over a possible move for the former Ajax player. According to Goal, the Catalans have already rejected United’s first offer of £51m for the midfielder.

Most observers expected the two sides could reach an agreement on a ‘compromised fee of about £69 million. However, Laporta has now claimed the Spanish giants hope to keep De Jong at the club.

“We have no intention of selling Frenkie De Jong & he wants to stay,” Laporta told reporters.

“Many clubs are interested in signing him because he is one of the best midfielders in the world.

“But I will do everything in my power so that he stays but resolves the salary issue.”

Laporta also confirmed Barca are keen to add Leeds United’s Raphinha to their ranks ahead of the next season.

“Raphinha wants to come at Barça. We have communication and have spoken with Leeds,” he added.

“What’s there is that there are other clubs that want Raphinha and are making their proposals”.
