The FC Barcelona star reportedly returned a positive result for COVID-19 an incredible 26 times.
Sergi Roberto had to take 27 COVID-19 tests before he was finally cleared to report back to action for Barcelona.
The 28-year-old full-back, a homegrown product of the club’s famed youth system, missed two months of action through a thigh injury. And during his absence, he tested positive for coronavirus and had to isolate.
According to journalist Xavier Campos, on the Esport3 program ‘Onze’, Roberto actually returned a positive result on 26 occasions. Therefore, he wasn’t able to return to the club’s facilities to work his way back to fitness.
But the 10-time Spain international finally tested negative on the 27th attempt and made a 23-minute cameo in Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Athletic Club on Sunday – his first appearance since November 21.
