The Catalans have received an offer for the Dutchman ahead of the winter transfer window.

AS Roma have contacted Barcelona over a possible move for Memphis Depay.

The Dutchman has struggled for minutes since Robert Lewandowski arrived at Camp Nou in the summer.

Having started only two games for the Catalans this season, Depay is looking to continue his career elsewhere.

According to 90min, Roma have emerged as suitors for Depay ahead of the winter transfer window.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen to bolster his side’s attacking line by signing the Dutchman after the World Cup.

Depay was on the verge of completing a move to Juventus last summer. But the move collapsed after the two clubs failed to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.

Italian sources claim the Catalans still insist on not letting the interested sides get away with a bargain deal. However, unlike the last summer, they are under pressure to avoid a free departure in June.

Roma could offer the experienced forward a loan move. But the Catalans will most likely demand to receive a transfer fee due to their ongoing financial issues.

Speaking to MD on Wednesday, Barcelona director Jordi Cruyff said of Depay’s possible move: “Why should we sell Depay in January if it’s difficult to sign new players because of Financial Fair Play? (via Fabrizio Romano)

“He’s always been a great professional.

“He can be really helpful. Free agent in June? We will see in the next months”.
