Denis Zakaria will not stay at the German side beyond the current campaign.

Since his 2017 move from Young Boys, Denis Zakaria has established himself as a key player for Borussia Monchengladbach. Despite interest from several elite clubs, the midfielder ended up staying at the club last summer. However, he will not stay at the club beyond the current campaign.

Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed Zakaria will leave the club as a free agent in the summer.

Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Juventus are Zakaria’s main suitors. However, according to 90min, several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Everton, are also eyeing moves for the 25-year-old. He will be able to start his negotiations with other clubs from February.

“Denis Zakaria has informed the club of his intention to leave in the summer after five years at Gladbach,” a club statement read.

Another Gladbach star, Matthias Ginter, also revealed his plans to leave the club on Tuesday.

“After much deliberation, I have decided not to extend my contract that is due to expire in the summer,” he wrote on Instagram. “After five great years at Borussia Monchengladbach, it is very difficult for me to take this step, but I have decided to take another path in my career for my personal and professional development.

“I owe a lot to Borussia and I will always hold the club and the great fans in my heart.”

Bayer are the frontrunners to sign the German international on a free deal. However, Inter, Barcelona, and Newcastle have also expressed their interest in the defender in the past.
