Messi could be reunited with one of his former teammates at the MLS side.
Jordi Alba is reportedly in negotiations with Inter Miami to join the club as a free agent.
Inter Miami won a close transfer race to sign Lionel Messi last week. It seems the club are now increasing their efforts to add another former Barcelona star to their ranks.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Alba is in “active negotiations” with the MLS side over a summer move. The Sky Sports journalist claims two Saudi Arabian sides are also in the race to sign the 34-year-old.
Alba is yet to make his final decision, but the prospect of reuniting with Messi could convince him to snub a big-money move to Saudi Arabia.
The veteran right-back ended his 11-year spell at Camp Nou by claiming another La Liga title at the end of the last season. Soon after Messi’s transfer to Inter Miami, Alba emerged as a transfer target for the MLS side alongside Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez.
The Uruguayan striker was quick in dismissing reports about his possible departure from Gremio. But Busquets and Alba are still available as free agents ahead of the next campaign.
In a similar situation to Alba, Busquets has offers both from Inter Miami and Saudi Arabia. According to Mundo Deportivo, both Al Hilal and Al Nassr have shown interest in signing the 34-year-old this summer.
