Depay has secured a permanent move to Atletico Madrid from Camp Nou.

Barcelona will have a preferential option to sign Yannick Carrasco as part of Memphis Depay’s contract at Atletico Madrid.

On Friday, the Catalans confirmed Depay signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at Atletico.

The move ends the Dutchman’s underwhelming spell at Barcelona, which started with his free move from Lyon in 2021.

Depay got regular game time under Ronald Koeman but quickly slipped down the pecking order when Xavi arrived last summer.

The signing of Robert Lewandowski ended Depay’s hopes of reclaiming his starting spot, convincing him to seek a move away from Camp Nou.

Atletico managed to finalize Depay’s move with a €4m offer. However, the Catalans have included an additional clause to their agreement with Atletico.

Barcelona will have a preferential purchase option to add Carrasco to their squad for €20m next summer.

After sending Joao Felix on a loan deal to Chelsea, Atletico were quick in their efforts to add a new forward to their ranks. Depay’s arrival will most likely see him play alongside Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata in Diego Simeone’s three-man attacking setup.

After a 2-0 win over Levante in the Copa del Rey, the Rojiblancos hope to return to winning ways when hosting Valladolid on Saturday.
