The Catalans are closing in on a deal for one of the best players in Bayern’s academy.
Barcelona have intensified their efforts to strenghthen Barcelona B in recent weeks. The Catalans have entered negotiations for several players, with a Bayern Munich prodigy being their newest target.
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plattenburg, Barcelona are pursuing a deal for Kenan Yildiz. The Catalans are reportedly in ‘advance talks’ to sign the midfielder, with the player spending the last months of his contract at Bayern.
Yildiz is a 16-year-old midfielder, who has been playing for Bayern’s academy ranks since 2012. The teenager is yet to play his senior debut, but his performances for Bayern’ U-17 and U-19 teams have attracted interest from several clubs.
Since the start of this season, Yildiz has made 19 appearances for Bayern’s different teams. He has registered six goals and eight assists, establishing a reputation as one of the most promising academy players at Bayern. The Turkish-German starlet has already made ten appearances for Turkey’s U-17 national team, scoring three goals.
With Yildiz’s Bayern contract expiring next summer, Barcelona will most likely prize him away on a free deal. The teenage star has the same agent as Barcelona stars Ferran Torres and Pedri, which has reportedly had a positive effect on the negotiations. The club are reportedly in the final stages of the negotiation while planning for an imminent official announcement.
