The Catalans might face an injury crisis in their backline after the international break.

Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde have returned to Barcelona after sustaining injuries while on international duty.

On Friday, the French Football Federation confirmed Kounde had left their camp with a hamstring injury. The Barcelona star had sustained the injury during Les Bleus’ win over Austria a day earlier.

The Catalan side have now announced Araujo has joined Kounde on their injury list. The 23-year-old limped off the pitch only five minutes into Uruguay’s 1-0 defeat against Iran on Friday.

“First team player Ronald Araujo has an avulsion of the adductor longus tendon of his right thigh. He is out, and his evolution will mark his availability,” an official club statement reads.

The club haven’t provided a recovery timeline for Araujo. However, according to Diario AS, Araujo will stay out of action for about seven weeks due to the injury.

Based on this assumption, he will miss games against Inter, Real Madrid, Villarreal, Athletic Bilbao, and Bayern Munich.

Kounde’s injury, on the other hand, is not as serious as initially expected. The Frenchman will most likely recover in less than a month, which makes him an option for the upcoming El Clasico on October 16th.
