La Liga will return to action this weekend, but Barcelona are facing deep troubles as several stars are unavailable to play.

Barcelona have worrisome issues as three more players have tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of their game against Mallorca on Sunday.

Ousmane Dembele, Samuel Umtiti, and Gavi are sent home for quarantine after a positive PCR test. Anyhow, it has been confirmed that the trio is in good health.

Meaning, Xavi will have to face a selection crisis as he could be without up to 14 players when La Liga resumes this weekend. The virus, injuries, and suspension all have made a critical impact on the squad strength.

Which players are unavailable for Barcelona?

Along with Dembele, Umtiti, and Gavi; Jordi Alba, Alejandro Balde, Clement Lenglet, and Dani Alves have all tested positive for coronavirus. Their results came out last week and they will not be able to feature for Barca on Sunday.

In addition, Sergi Roberto will not return until spring next year having gone through thigh surgery. Memphis Depay is sidelined due to a hamstring injury, Sergino Dest has been battling an adductor setback, and Sergio Busquets is suspended.

Teenage stars Pedri and Ansu Fati could make their comebacks, however, do not have the fitness required for the game. Both were out since November with thigh and knee injuries respectively.

On top of this, Martin Braithwaite is also in the medical room since September after his knee surgery. Initially, he was expected to return until mid-January but stays in doubt for this Sunday’s early emergence.
