Barcelona chief Joan Laporta desires to bring in three Chelsea players to Camp Nou during the summer transfer window in 2022.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has shortlisted three Chelsea defenders that he would like to see featuring for the club ahead of the next season. In their opening seven fixtures in the current season, the Blaugrana has managed to secure just three wins. It has been a constant battle for the Catalan team to build chemistry between the players after the departure of Leo Messi. However, Laporta believes that the addition of strong central defenders will boost morale at the back.

At the moment, Barcelona are stacked on the ninth spot in La Liga, five points behind league leaders Real Madrid. Factually, the club could not purchase extra players during the last transfer window due to their poor financial condition. Somehow, free moves such as Eric Garcia, Memphis Depay, and Sergio Aguero were implemented. Emerson Royal was the solo player who was bought for a fee. But was sent to Tottenham just after three appearances. According to Mundo Deportivo, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, and Cesar Azpilicueta are three Chelsea stars on Barca’s radar.

Breaking down the plan.

Laporta has been keeping up with contracts of potential targets for the next season. And preparing to make bids early before the start of the season 2022-23. The ideal strategy is to focus on the players who will soon run out of deals. Thus granting them easy access to one of the biggest clubs in football. In fact, there has been ongoing rumours about the German defender’s future at Stamford Bridge.

But, Thomas Tuchel is certain that Rudiger will sooner or later agree to fresh terms for the Londoners. Secondly, the Spain international is regarded as one of the fittest defenders and has been displaying incredible performances lately. His contract is set to terminate in the summer of 2022. Finally, the Danish has been a regular face on Tuchel’s side. And looks crisp after returning from injury and could be a safe option for Barcelona.
