The Gabonese star will stay out of action for a few weeks after sustaining a jaw injury.

Barcelona star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has confirmed burglars have injured his jaw during a robbery on Sunday.

According to Spanish sources, a group of armed robbers attacked Aubameyang’s house, breaking his jaw during a physical altercation.

Chelsea have pushed to sign Aubameyang in recent weeks. The Blues have reportedly continued negotiating with Barcelona despite the 33-year-old’s new injury.

Aubameyang opened up on the incident on Twitter.

“On Sunday night, some violent cowards broke into our home and threatened my family and my children, just to steal some stuff,” he wrote.

“They injured my jaw but I will recover in no time, and thank God no one else was physically harmed.

“The feeling that we are no longer safe in our own home is hard to understand and describe. But as a family, we will overcome this and stand stronger than ever.”

Barcelona are reportedly demanding €20m for Aubameyang’s transfer.

A potential transfer will see Chelsea add a new striker to their ranks after the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.

On the other hand, Barcelona will free up more space on their wage bill, which might tempt them to make a deadline-day push to sign Marcos Alonso from Chelsea.
