After Philippe Coutinho, Barcelona are curious about another Liverpool midfielder for a big transfer in the coming summer.

It has been four years since Barcelona signed Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool, but this time they are looking for another star from the Merseyside club.

According to El Nacional, the Catalan giants are plotting a move for Naby Keita in the summer. The 26-year-old has been part of Jurgen Klopp’s side since 2018 after his exit from German side RB Leipzig.

The Guinea midfielder is known to have strong skills to control the central zone of the field even before his arrival at Anfield. However, Keita struggled to live a fluent life at Liverpool because of injuries.

Hence, he has not been able to feature in the starting XI for the Premier League club. Keita’s contract will terminate in 2023, and the Reds are not interested in renewal. Moreover, reports suggest that Klopp has asked the midfielder to look for a new club.

Top outfits such as Bayern Munich, West Ham, Roma, and AC Milan are all eager to snatch the midfielder. But, reports from the Spanish media outlet indicate that Barcelona are leading the race to sign Keita.

The La Liga club already has a number of top-class central players, but the future of Frenkie de Jong is in a doubt. Along with Keita, they are also monitoring Denis Zakaria who works proficiently in the midfield. Yet, there is no hesitation for the club that the Liverpool star will be to offer much more than his competitor.

It is been said that Barcelona could sign the former Leipzig man for €30 million. But, we’ll have to wait and see if the club actually goes forward with their new interest.
