Barcelona crushed Osasuna at Camp Nou as they closed the gap to second-placed Sevilla on the La Liga table.
Barcelona defeated Osasuna 4-0 in their La Liga game on Sunday. The Catalans claimed their third league victory in a row as Ousmane Dembele delivered another incredible performance.
Dembele turning boos into cheers!
Similar to their recent La Liga games, Barca started the game by quickly dominating the possession. Except for a few half-chances by the guests, the Catalans managed to control the game throughout the first half.
Ferran Torres opened the scoring by converting a penalty before doubling Barca’s lead after Dembele’s assist in the 20th minute.
Dembele produced another assist only seven minutes later, finding Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang with an excellent pass. The former Arsenal star then made it 3-0 as Osasuna’s backline seemed already crushed under Barca’s firepower.
Xavi Hernandez’s side slowed down their attacks at the beginning of the second period but found their rhythm again after the hour-mark. Riqui Puig scored Barca’s fourth goal of the night after converting the follow-up of his shot from the edge of the box.
Osasuna were not able to ruin Barca’s clean sheet in the final ten minutes as the Blaugrana blocked them from using the spaces between their lines.
What’s next for Barcelona and Osasuna?
Barca are now only five points behind Sevilla, who sits second on the La Liga table. However, they now have to shift their focus toward the Europa League, where they meet Galatasaray in the second leg of their last-16 tie on Thursday.
On the other hand, Osasuna prepare to face Levante on Saturday as they continue their efforts to secure a top-half finish in the league.
