The Catalans claimed their third win in a row by beating Celta on home soil.

Barcelona defeated Celta Vigo 3-1 in their La Liga game on Tuesday. The Catalans tightened their grip on the league’s second spot as clinical finishing earned them another win at Camp Nou.

Dembele saves the day!

Barcelona were not able to establish their dominance early on as Celta kept them at bay with their high-pressing football.

However, the guests’ resistance finally cracked half an hour into the game. Following an incredible run from Ousmane Dembele down the right flank, the Frenchman provided a perfect assist for Memphis Depay inside the box. The former Lyon star then converted the pass with a precise finish to put Barca 1-0 ahead.

Celta had a big chance to get back into the game six minutes later, but Marc Andre ter Stegen’s fantastic save prevented Thiago Galhardo from scoring Celta’s first goal of the night.

Despite Celta increasing the pressure on Barcelona’s backline in the final stages of the first half, the hosts managed to double their lead through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 41st minute.

Only three minutes after the interval, the Arsenal forward completed his brace to make it 3-0 for the Catalans. Following another fantastic assist from Dembele, Auba smashed a precise low shot past Matias Dituro to seal the victory for the hosts.

The guests refused to stop their attacks and found the back of the net only five minutes after Auba’s goal.

As we expected in our Goalscorer tips for today, Iago Aspas scored again vs Barcelona to revive Celta’s hopes of a comeback. However, Jeison Murillo’s red card in the 58th minute stopped Celta’s plan in its tracks.

The eventful game then continued with an awful clash of heads between Gavi and Ronald Araujo, which forced doctors to transfer the Argentine to the hospital with an ambulance.

The pace of the game dropped significantly after Murillo’s red card, with Celta being unable to push for a comeback. Barca had a few more chances to increase their lead at the dying stages of the game, but they eventually settled for a 3-1 win.

What’s next for Barca?

Barcelona go seven points past Sevilla, who are their closest rivals for the second spot.

The Catalans continue their league campaign with a match against Getafe on Sunday.
