Barca claimed a crucial home win to extend their lead at the top of the league table.

Barcelona defeated Sevilla 3-0 in their La Liga game on Sunday. A brilliant second-half display was enough for Xavi’s men to take another crucial step toward the league title.

Raphinha steals the show!

Barcelona gave no chance to their opponents to find their rhythm early on as they quickly established dominance over possession.

Xavi’s men attacked their opponents from both flanks but had no luck in converting their chances. Robert Lewandowski came the closest in the 26th minute, but Yassine Bono denied him with a brilliant save.

Things changed quickly, however, as soon as the second period started. The Catalans increased the pace of the game significantly, finally scoring the opener through Jordi Alba in the 58th minute.

Barca continued their attacks after the goal and managed to double their lead only 12 minutes later. Following a precise assist from Raphinha, Gavi nodded the ball home from close range to make it 2-0 for the hosts.

Sevilla made a few unsuccessful attempts to get back into the game, but the ruthless Catalans finished off the job in the 79th minute.

Raphinha completed his brilliant performance by converting a low cross from Alba inside the box. The goal secured Barca’s victory as they went eight points past Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table.

Xavi’s side will return to action when they take on Villarreal next weekend.
