Another uninspiring European display saw Barca suffer another defeat against their classic rivals.

Bayern Munich defeated Barcelona 3-0 in their Champions League match on Wednesday. The Bundesliga champions smashed Barca with a dominant attacking display at Camp Nou.

Barcelona off to Europa League!

Barca were already out of the Champions League when they came into their game against Bayern. Inter’s win over Viktoria Plzen saw the Catalans get relegated to the Europa League for the second year in a row.

The lack of motivation was evident in Barca’s difficult start to the game as Bayern quickly established their dominance.

Following a fantastic through ball from Serge Gnabry, Sadio Mane converted a one-on-one to put Bayern ahead only ten minutes into the game.

The Bavarians remained in charge of the possession despite showing little aggression in their pressing. Another assist from Gnabry saw Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting double Bayern’s lead just after the half-hour mark.

Barca’s poor display continued throughout the second period while Bayern comfortably controlled the game. The Bavarians made several more chances to extend their lead but had to wait until the game’s last shot for their next goal.

Gnabry completed his hat-trick of assists when Pavard converted his pass from close range to make it 3-0 for the guests.

Bayern’s sixth consecutive win over Barca was enough for the Bavarians to secure their top spot in Group C. Julian Nagelsmann’s side will face Mainz on Saturday while Barca return to La Liga to take on Valencia.
