Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman has heaped praise on a certain Juventus player ahead of their Champions League showdown.
Ronald Koeman is the man in charge as Barcelona welcome Juventus for a crunch Champions League game on Tuesday at the Camp Nou.
As expected, all eyes are on the spectacle that will see us witness another Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo showdown.
As expected, Barca boss Koeman took time out to praise a certain CR7 given his rivalry with a certain Argentine.
The Dutch manager was also full of praise for compatriot Matthijs de Ligt ahead of the clash.
Koeman is familiar with De Ligt from his time as the Netherlands and did comment on how close the 21-year-old came to joining the Catalan giants.
He said in an interview: “It is a pity that De Ligt plays for Juventus and not here, but that all happened before my arrival. I know him well.”
“Despite his age, he already has a lot of experience. He does everything he can to improve himself daily, can become the best in his position, and is also a very good person.”
Barcelona were heavily linked with De Ligt before he made his move to Juventus in 2019. An agreement was reached with Ajax but Barcelona could not agree terms with De Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola, who pushed De Ligt towards Juventus.
