Leeds forward Patrick Bamford can take a lot of positives from his side’s display in their match against reigning champions Liverpool.

Patrick Bamford says his side have answered early questions asked of them upon their return to the Premier League.

The Whites put out a tough fight against Liverpool at the weekend and were only two minutes away from snatching a point.

Leeds went head to head with Liverpool on the day and it was a late penalty from Salah that made the difference in the seven-goal thriller.

Expectations were high from Marcelo Bielsa’s side and their performance showed they could cause ‘top’ teams problems this time around.

It’s still too early to make any claim but Bamford is happy to see Leeds make an early statement.

“We showed a lot of character to keep coming back when we went behind” he said as quoted by the Mirror.

“We showed that we can compete with the best of the best.”

“We’ve kind of shown to ourselves that we need to be 100 per cent on it all the time because any slip-up in the Premier League you get punished.”

Bamford himself got on the score-sheet for Leeds and caused problems for Virgil Van Dijk at the back. He would no doubt be looking to build on a bright start so far.

The Whites take on fellow newly-promoted side Fulham for their next Premier League outing on Saturday.
