'Bad Attitude, lacking discipline & no self-confidence'

The German shot-stopper has listed out a number of reasons he believes are responsible for his side’s mediocre performances.

With just 14 points picked up out a possible 39, Arteta’s side are closer to suffering a drop from the English top-flight than to qualifying for any European competition as things stand.

Pressure continues to build on the former club captain, but Bernd Leno suggests Arteta, who led the team to FA Cup success last season, is not at fault for the downturn in form.

Leno told Sky Germany: “If you look at the way we were running around on the pitch at times, then the players are the only ones to blame. I have to be honest about that.

“The coach is not an issue in the dressing room, there is no criticism of him. We criticize ourselves and the players know that they are responsible.

“The attitude is bad, the discipline is lacking and we have no self-confidence. There are many factors at play here.

“We have addressed this very clearly internally and everyone agrees that we have to change this very quickly.”
